National pension Exemption from insurance premiums for people with reduced income 1st day Special measures Corona April 30 21:35

Special measures will be started from the 1st to allow those who have lost their income due to the spread of the new coronavirus to be exempted from paying the national pension premium promptly.

There is a system where people with low income are exempt from paying the national pension insurance premiums that self-employed people join, and whether or not they are exempt based on their income for the previous year or two years ago. It is a mechanism that determines the amount to be paid.

However, with this mechanism, it is difficult for people whose income has decreased due to the spread of the new coronavirus to be exempted immediately, so the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to apply special measures from the 1st.

Specifically, if you can prove that your income has decreased for any one month since February this year, you can apply for exemption, and depending on your income, you can currently pay the total premium of 16,540 yen per month. It is exempted in 4 steps from 1 to 1/4.

The exemption period will be included in the enrollment period required to qualify for the pension.

On the other hand, compared to full payment of insurance premiums, you will receive less pension in the future, but you can pay later if it is within 10 years.

Applications can be accepted at the municipal office, but the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare is calling for us to "use the procedures by mail to prevent the spread of infection."
