Maggie Haney, ex-coach of the US Olympic gymnastics team, has been fined eight years, we learned on Wednesday, a new case in the sport.

Maggie Haney, 42, appears on the list of suspended persons published on the USA Gymnastics site, with a sanction which runs until April 30, 2028.

She is accused according to the American press of mistreatment of athletes, forcing them to train despite injuries.

Two of his illustrious disciples, Laurie Hernandez (gold medalist in the team competition in Rio-2016) and Riley McCusker (member of the champion team at the 2018 Worlds in Doha), brought charges to the committee responsible to rule on his fate, reports the New York Times.

Laurie Hernandez testified against her and Riley McCusker wrote a critical letter, according to The Orange County Register.

Forbidden to train any gymnast from a club affiliated to the federation, she must also pass a probationary period of two years if she wishes to return after her suspension.

His blacklisting further destabilizes American gymnastics, already shocked by the case of Larry Nassar, former doctor of the national team sentenced in 2018 to a heavy prison sentence for sexually assaulting dozens of sportswomen.
