During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, the police in Växjö presented the results of the police operation in the Araby area, where more than 100 police officers participate. Among other things, the authority seized weapons, drugs, ammunition and money.

The operation is the largest ever in Växjö, which targets criminal networks. A total of 89 people were visited, 34 cars were searched, and nine house searches were carried out.

Common areas in over 50 apartment buildings have also been searched.

You go in and search houses where people live, check them on the streets. How is it really experienced?

- We do not search people's homes if they are not suspected of crime. The general searches are in green areas, stairwells, basements, laundry rooms. Many residents do not want these spaces to be occupied by criminal networks, so we have received positive feedback, says Admir Smailagic.

Weapons and drugs

Suspected crimes that the police have discovered are among other things weapons violations, drug theft, drug crimes and money laundering crimes. A person who was wanted in a previous case has been found and arrested.

But already in the planning of the operation, the police discovered a blow due to suspected crimes.

- It turned up information we couldn't wait for. So there are three already detained in two different cases, says Admir Smailagic.
