The prosecutor demanded that the older of the two who are in their 30s be sentenced to five years in prison for attempted pernicious destruction, serious crime, and that the 20-year-old man be sentenced to four years in prison.

Both men remain detained until they are notified on May 13. During the trial, the men have denied the main point of claim, which is thus an attempt to destroy the public. One of the men is also being prosecuted, for example, for attempted serious weapons crime.

Could have caused great damage

It was on December 9, 2019, that the men were suspected of placing a sharp explosive charge of just over a kilo of nitroglycerin, on a window sill to a pizzeria in Eksjö. They should have tried to light the explosive charge but failed.

A large area in central Eksjö was blocked off and the police bomb protection came and damaged the explosive charge. If it exploded, the assessment is that it could have caused very great damage.

A motive for the deed is believed to be an economic debt that a relative of the pizzeria owner had to one of the perpetrators.
