Some large brands will start selling masks on May 4 to fight the spread of coronavirus and all major brands will do so on May 11, Secretary of State for Economy Agnès Pannier-Runacher announced on Wednesday.

"I am announcing today an agreement with the large distribution so that certain signs start selling them as of next week and all the signs as of May 11", declared Mrs. Pannier-Runacher during an interview granted to BFM Business.

They will cost "between 2 and 3 euros for reusable washable masks, or between 10 and 30 cents per use," she said, adding that the paper masks for single use will be sold by major brands at cost price.

The Secretary of State also recalled that when the company cannot respect the distancing, "it is up to the employer to provide the masks".

"We will make 5 million masks per week reusable 20 times available to the most vulnerable, the equivalent of 100 million single-use masks," said Pannier-Runacher.
