A police commander assigned to the management of CRS in Metz died of coronavirus at the age of 53, Monday, the unions announced. They also denounce a lack of protection for agents.

Philippe Donnadieu, "functional divisional police commander," died Monday "after several weeks of fighting against the covid-19," said in a statement the Union of Managers in Homeland Security (SCSI). Single and childless, "he was in charge of the employment of the CRS" in the zonal management of the CRS East. "His disappearance leaves a big void," said the National Police on his Twitter account, confirming his death "from the Covid-19".

The death angered police unions in the Grand Est, who denounced the lack of masks available to the police. "We are told that we do not need masks" on the grounds that "we are not first responders" when we are "more and more contaminated and we see more and more colleagues fall ", indignant Bruno D'Orzio, regional delegate CRS East at Alliance Police Nationale.

Alliance had called at the end of March on the police to stop the checks while waiting for the "sufficient necessary material" to reach them. Several police officers have died from covid-19 since the start of the epidemic. Sunday, a divisional commissioner of Lens (Pas-de-Calais) thus succumbed to the virus at the age of 47 years.
