The dynamics of the incidence of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in the Moscow region has reached a plateau. This was stated by the region’s governor Andrei Vorobyov on the Russia 1 television channel.

“We went to a plateau, probably this plateau. Regarding growth, this is 5-7%. I think that we will stand on it for some time, then it will continue to decline, ”said Vorobyov.

The Moscow region ranks second in Russia in the number of confirmed cases of a new type of coronavirus. Over the past day, 686 new infections have been recorded. The total number of infected is 10 917 of which 389 recovered and 90 died.

Andrei Vorobyov also spoke about the ongoing work to improve the healthcare system of the Moscow Region. According to him, almost every day in the region the number of beds for patients is increasing. A contract was also signed for the supply of 1 million protective suits for doctors.

“In each municipality there is a head doctor, he answers with his head that all institutions should be“ closed ”by personal protective equipment. A month ago, we used about 6–7 thousand protective suits, shoe covers and respirators. Today, this amount has increased to 20 thousand. We make purchases per week - 200, 300 thousand, ”the head of the region added.

The governor assured that in the Moscow region there is everything necessary, including medicines, to fight against coronavirus infection. Speaking about the upcoming May holidays, Vorobyov urged residents to continue to abide by the established rules, which "today are simply necessary and save lives."

“The weather, as we know, will be good, so you need to keep your eyes open in the sense that there should be control. If you are talking about kebabs, then we should not allow this, so there will be reinforced patrol teams, ”Vorobyov added.

On the eve of the Moscow Region, the high alert mode was extended until May 11. This decision was made after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the prolongation of the non-working days in the country until May 11 (taking into account the May holidays), since the peak of incidence of CVID-19 in the country has not yet been passed.

In total, as of April 29, 99,399 cases of coronavirus infection were registered, of which 10,286 patients recovered and were discharged, and 972 died. The region with the largest number of cases remains Moscow - in the capital there are 50,646 cases of infection.

According to the latest forecasts of specialists from the Singapore University of Technology and Design, the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Russia by 100% may stop on August 4, while 97% is likely to be reached by the end of May.

At the same time, the Russian government extended the ban on the entry of foreign citizens into the country until the epidemiological situation related to coronavirus improves.

“Until April 30, inclusive, for foreign citizens there is a restriction on entry into our country. I signed an order to extend this period until the fight against infection is completed and the epidemiological situation improves, ”said Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordinating Council to Combat COVID-19.

The head of government also said that there is no way to say when the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus will be completely lifted. At the same time, a ban on entry will not apply to a number of categories of foreigners, in particular, specialists involved in the maintenance of imported equipment.

“Such a measure will reduce the negative impact of restrictions on the activities of Russian industrial enterprises, including those that manufacture equipment to combat coronavirus infection,” Mishustin explained.

We add that the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 has become one of the topics of the meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. In addition to the head of state and the prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of the Security Council, and Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of the Security Council, Anton Vaino, head of the Kremlin administration, ministers Sergey Lavrov, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Sergey Shoigu, FSB leaders Alexander Bortnikov and SVR Sergey Naryshkin, as well as Presidential Special Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergey Ivanov.

“A thorough exchange of views took place on the progress of the fight against coronavirus with an emphasis on the situation in the regions of the Russian Federation, where the growth rate of the number of infected people has been increasing in recent days,” said presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
