Prime Minister Stefan Löfven believes that the government is already working on proposals in this direction.

"The Finance Minister said last week that we see that we need to do more for the companies so that work goes on," Löfven stated.

That there is now a majority in Parliament's Finance Committee on this issue, the Prime Minister says, does not play a major role. They still work on the issue, he says.

- It is clear that pressure is increasing on the government when the Riksdag declares itself willing to act on this issue, SVT Nyheter's political reporter Elisabeth Marmorstein says in a comment.

"Complex Things"

But why is it taking so long? That was one of Löfven's questions. Already last week, the government said such work was ongoing.

"These are quite complex things," the Prime Minister said today. We must know that we can afford it. When we are going to start the economy again, there must be space. If we had a fairly low government debt when this started, we can now see that it is increasing and this can go pretty fast. And then we must know that if there is a second wave of this pandemic, that we have resources. Should we then say that we have no funds left, it is not sustainable, says Löfven.

SD and KD propose major measures

But the Moderates do not buy those arguments and do not understand why things are going so slowly.

- It's burning in the knots, says party leader Ulf Kristersson.

Earlier today, SD came out with its proposal for measures for the companies in its shadow budget. The Swedish Democrats propose a sales subsidy that would cost SEK 100 billion over a quarter. KD also had direct support to the companies in its so-called shadow budget today. There, 80 billion will go to cost support to entrepreneurs.

- The Center Party and the Liberals are really pushing for this support. The other upcoming grants do not want to be discussed if you do not get through this as I understand, says Marmorstein about how pressed the government is to go to the majority in parliament.
