"In Africa, there are not enough laboratories, especially at the decentralized level", explains on France 24 Doctor Amadou Sall, administrator general of the Pasteur Institute of Dakar, in Senegal, one of the research centers most famous in the world.

He explains that his Institute is working on the development of rapid Covid-19 screening tests, in partnership with the British company Mogolic, and via the Senegalese platform Diatropix. These tests could determine in just ten minutes if an individual is carrying the virus.

"The prototypes are in an evaluation state and this process should be completed during the month of June," said Dr Sall, adding that the objective is then to "facilitate access" to these screening kits for the various African countries and to sell them at cost price, ie "maximum one euros".
