In an exclusive BVA survey for Europe 1 and Orange published Tuesday and carried out before Edouard Philippe spoke, only 28% of French people express their confidence in the way the government manages the crisis, the lowest level since the start of containment.

EXCLUSIVE

The morale of the French is at half mast. After six weeks of confinement, the concern seems to undermine the country, notes the latest wave of the BVA survey for Europe 1 and Orange * on the state of morale of the population during this unprecedented health period. The poll was conducted before Prime Minister Edouard Philippe's announcements were made to the National Assembly on Tuesday afternoon.

Only 28% of French people express their confidence in the way the government is managing the crisis, the lowest level since the start of containment. A dropout that is observed even among LREM sympathizers (62%, or 2 points than in the last survey), even if they remain much more confident than the average of French people. The fall in French people's confidence in the authorities also concerns the information communicated by public authorities: only 32% are convinced of their quality.

Strong concern over the country's economic situation

For the past week, the proportion of French people who believe that the worst of the crisis remains to come has started to rise again. They were 40% to think so on April 20, against 48% on 28. This seems to confirm the growing concern of the population facing the modalities of deconfinement.

French morale is also plagued by deep concern over the country's economic situation. Only 14% of respondents say they are "confident" about it. On the other hand, they remain mostly confident about the financial situation of their home (55%, 1 point more than in the last survey). Similarly, private and self-employed workers are 62% who remain optimistic about their company's ability to cope with the crisis (+2).
