Skåne traffic now reduces the number of departures, mainly in the evenings and weekends. This is partly because fewer people are currently traveling under the coronapandmin. But that many departures are canceled also depends on planned track work.

Easter trains are set

The changes will apply until August 30 as the situation looks now and a significant change is that Pågatågen will only run until 22 hours on weekdays and weekends when they would normally run until midnight.

- The Pea train express between Helsingborg and Malmö is also canceled, due to planned railway work on the Lommabanan. But the fact that we set up the Pågatåg express that runs between Älmhult and Malmö is due to the fact that fewer are traveling that route right now, says Linda Westman, business manager for Pågatågen.

Lack of work for train staff

Suspended departures and slippage of traffic affect not only travelers but also Arriva, which runs Pågatågen on behalf of Skånetrafiken.

"We are experiencing a shortage of work now from May 1st and therefore called for negotiations with the relevant unions," says Christer Ekelund, Head of Communications at Arriva.

Notice of termination

But the negotiations ended on Monday without reaching an agreement on short-term permits.

- SEKO and ST asked questions about scheduling and working hours. These are issues that we do not think it is a place to discuss right now, we can do that on another occasion because now it is a crisis, says Christer Ekelund.

Instead of short-term layoffs, Arriva will now give notice of redundancies among its employees. Exactly how many people are affected is uncertain today.
