The Government's recommendation on distance studies came in mid-March. The situation is new for both students and teachers and the authorities and the grading is a part of concern.

- It's both how secure my grade is when I put it and the students' opportunity to take it, says Marie Löf, who notes that many aspects of the grading are based on the student being in the school.

- It doesn't have to be a written exam or submission, but I always see how they develop and move forward.

“Need evidence to be able to rate”

Åsa Elfving teaches math and physics and is a municipal representative for the Teachers' Federation:

- After all, we still have our assignment that we should rate after completing the course and we need a basis to be able to put that grade, that is what will be difficult, she says.

- It is a question of having been able to do all the practical steps. I can't let a student connect a power plant at home, says Niklas Vigren, a teacher at the electricity and energy program at Örnsköldsvik's high school.

All are looking for clear directives from the National Agency for Education regarding grading.

The National Agency for Education: "Great faith in the teachers"

The National Agency for Education refers, among other things, to the new regulation that allows schools to include smaller groups when needed based on assessment aspects.

Do you see any danger in the fact that, in some cases, it will not be possible to put correct grades?

- It is difficult to say to what extent the rating is affected. No one knows how the situation will develop in the future, but we have great confidence that the teachers will set the grades that best correspond to the students' knowledge. If the teaching takes place at a distance, it may not be possible to make assessments of the student's knowledge as usual, but you need to gather evidence in other ways, for example, to make oral reconciliations, says Roberth Olofsson, teaching council at the National Agency for Education.

- But we are still in April and there is still time to gather evidence. It is important that schools prioritize grade 9 and grade three in high school.
