Boris Diaw has resigned from the presidency of the Boulogne-Levallois basketball club after only one season at the helm, the Metropolitans said in a statement on Monday.

"Difficulties have arisen as to the way the club works and in the relations between Boris and certain members of the executive board," said the club.

"We regret this decision but it will not have any consequences on the club's project," Jean-Pierre Aubry, Boris Diaw's predecessor, told AFP without making any further comments.

Alain Bouvard will act as interim chairman.

Boris Diaw, 38, was to pilot the club's ambitious development project and its transfer from Levallois to Boulogne, where he will settle in a new room with 5,000 seats by 2022-2024.

After 25 days, the Metropolitans were fourth in the Elite with 18 wins and 7 losses before the championship was suspended indefinitely due to the coronavirus epidemic.

The former emblematic captain of the Blues of the generation Tony Parker, European champion in 2013, divides his time between many passions, including photography, gastronomy and especially travel. He set himself the goal of going around the world with his boat.

After his return from the NBA where he spent 14 years, Diaw had played one last season at Levallois, in 2018/19, under the leadership of coach Frédéric Fauthoux, his friend and former teammate at the start of his career at Pau-Orthez.
