The traffic intervention took place last Thursday and Friday and gathered staff from the traffic police, border police and the intervention operations at the Gävle Norra checkpoint on E4 and on road 583 at Mårdängssjön. The Swedish Work Environment Authority also participated to control occupational traffic.

A total of about 700 vehicles were checked, of which some 30 were heavier trucks.

- We did a gathering of power, partly to detect irregularities but also to prevent when people see that we are out. If we gather different skills and have access to awake and talented employees, then you usually find things, says Jonas Ekström, Group Manager for the Traffic Police in Gästrikland, who led the effort.

Among other things, five cases were discovered of drug drunk driving, four cases of dangerous goods, one weapon crime and one crime with explosive goods. Forty order fines were issued and four driver's licenses were handed over. A heavy truck was seized, like about forty marijuana plants.

- It is unusual for seizures according to the Traffic Act of heavier vehicles, there are usually passenger cars, but now a driver was out driving illegally and had been caught without a driver's license and had been convicted of it several times before.

And the plants?

- They were the result of a house search done in the extension of a check.
