China News Agency, Moscow, April 26 (Reporter Wang Xiujun) Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yevgulov announced on the 26th that the Russian airborne troops completed the world's first arctic 10,000-meter sky diving.

Yevgulov said that the airborne troops carried oxygen supply equipment and jumped off the Il-76 transport plane using a special skydiving system adapted to Arctic conditions. After landing, they completed combat training.

Yevgulov said that the operation was to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War and the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the airborne troops. During the skydiving operation, in addition to testing the skydiving system, oxygen equipment and navigation equipment were also tested.

Yevgulov said such operations will be carried out at different times and in different Arctic regions each year.

In recent years, Russia has strengthened its military strength in the Arctic. Russian Chief of General Staff Gerasimov said that the Russian armed forces plan to improve the air defense system in the Arctic region to improve the monitoring capability over the Arctic waters. Russian Defense Minister Shoygu said that strengthening the Arctic troops is one of the priorities of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

In March this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the "Basic Policy of the Arctic States of the Russian Federation by 2035."
