The epidemic killed 14,050 people in hospitals, or 198 more deaths in 24 hours, the lowest daily toll for a month, and 8,564 in nursing homes and other medico-social establishments (+171), said the DGS. in a press release.

Édouard Philippe will present his plan on Tuesday

Édouard Philippe will present Tuesday at 3 p.m. before the National Assembly "the national strategy of the deconfinement plan" which is due to start on May 11. This presentation will be followed by a debate and a vote in accordance with article 50-1 of the Constitution, according to a letter from the Prime Minister addressed to the President of the Assembly Richard Ferrand.

The Scientific Council delivers its recommendations 

For its part, the Scientific Council posted its recommendations on Saturday evening in two documents, one relating to the resumption of school and the other on the overall modalities of deconfinement over a horizon of two months. The council recommends in particular the compulsory wearing of an anti-projection mask in middle and high schools, both for staff and for students.

The Council underlines, in one of the two documents, that it for its part was favorable that the crèches and educational establishments remain closed until September. But he said he took "note of the political decision" of the government to reopen them gradually in May, "taking into account health issues but also societal and economic". Beyond school matters, the Scientific Council also recommends, in the context of deconfinement, to allow travel from one region to another by public transport if the precautionary measures are respected.

The pandemic has killed more than 200,000 people worldwide, including nearly 90% in Europe and the United States, since its appearance in China in December, according to a report established by AFP.
