In the south, the worst may be over for those who are hypersensitive to birch pollen. Because even though the flowering of the trees continues for a while, the levels decrease. At the height of Värmland, southern Dalarna and Gästrikland the flowering has just begun, and there it slows down as it now gets cooler.

- Björken almost always blooms on the first wonderfully warm days of the year, when you just want to be outside. But it has not really been as bad as we feared, and now it seems to calm down, says Agneta Ekeblom on pollenrapporten.se, which is part of the Natural History Museum.

Continued risk

But it is too early to blow the danger over. According to the forecast, there is still a great risk of high levels and increased risk a further north. But the really problematic high levels we currently seem to be avoiding.

Even further up in the north, the risks are so far small, as the flowering has not started yet. It is expected to last until mid-June. This year's birch blossom also appears to be stronger in the country's eastern parts compared to Western Sweden.

With regard to pollen from salmon and willow, the situation is somewhat less problematic. Right now there is an increased risk of high levels throughout the southern half of Sweden up to the Östersund - Örnsköldsvik line, but only in the immediate vicinity of flowering trees and shrubs.

This year's flowering of al has been unusually small and in the places where it is still ongoing, middle and northern Norrland, the risk of high levels is considered small.
