China News Agency, Moscow, April 25 (Reporter Wang Xiujun) Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov told the media on the 25th that some countries attacked the WHO to excuse extreme anti-epidemic measures for their own anti-epidemic measures.

Lavrov said that shortly after the outbreak, the UN Security Council had passed a resolution to unite against the epidemic and a resolution aimed at giving every country access to the developed antiviral vaccines and drugs. I think this is an important principle. Do n’t forget that the G20 member states have also passed the above resolution, although some of them have tried to point out that one or several countries and WHO should be responsible for the epidemic. I think that the adoption of these resolutions shows that all relevant countries work together as a whole.

Lavrov stated that he did not want to politicize the will to work together. But I have seen signs of politicization in the current attack on WHO, trying to use this as an extremely lagging and unfavorable excuse for my own anti-epidemic measures. In my opinion, WHO must act as a leading and coordinating body in health affairs, and WHO is also competent in this role.

Lavrov said that WHO is an organization composed of countries, and its activities are determined by the country. Most of the Secretariat experts who determine WHO activities are American citizens, including leadership positions. I suspect that Americans (in WHO) have been cut off from the US government these years. They should be independent, but as a staff member of the WHO Secretariat, they must communicate with the delegations of WHO member states when problems arise.

Lavrov emphasized that instead of looking for a responsible person, he should focus on measures such as self-isolation and vaccine development. In addition, in the long run, we should start to consider how to improve the connection and interaction in the global healthcare field. (Finish)
