According to the agency, this is 12.1% more than for the same period last year (in January 2019, the average salary in Moscow was 79.7 thousand rubles).

The growth occurred, in particular, due to the indexation of salaries of public sector employees, said Alexander Safonov, professor of the Financial University under the Russian government, vice-rector of the Academy of Labor and Social Relations. However, large companies played a greater role, the expert said in an interview with RT.

In his opinion, Moscow is the region where large companies are located.

“Changes in wages for the category of top managers always go at a faster pace than the average wages for other categories of employees,” Safonov explained.

Earlier, the highest paid professions in Moscow were named.

So, the highest salaries were received by specialists in the financial and insurance industry and in the field of information and communication, as well as those working in the field of providing electric energy, gas, steam and air conditioning.
