April 25, 2020 A new leap forward today in the coronavirus pandemic in Latin America, where the outbreaks went from 121,087 to 150,224 in just over 48 hours, and from 6,116 to 7,420 died. This is what emerges from a statistic elaborated by the Ansa concerning 34 Latin American countries and territories. The development of the data shows that once again Brazil is the most affected country, also given the importance of its population (over 210 million people), with just over a third of those infected (52,995) and half of the deceased ( 3.670). It should be noted that days ago, at the end of a phase of tension on the Covid-19 contrast strategy, President Jair Bolsonaro exonerated the Minister of Health, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, replacing him with the oncologist Nelson Teich.

Ecuador is the second largest country by number of infected people, with 22,719 cases and 576 deaths. Ecuador is in Latin America the country with the largest number of people infected and died according to its population, 12 times less than that of Brazil.

The list includes eight other nations that count more than 1,000 cases of contagion. They are Peru (21,648 and 634 dead), Chile (12,858 and 181), Mexico (12,872 and 1,221), the Dominican Republic (5,749 and 267), Panama (5,738 and 154), Colombia (4,881 and 225), Argentina (3,607 and 179) and Cuba (1,337 and 51).
