The short-lived slide of Voyage à Nantes. - F.Brenon / 20Minutes

  • Traditionally organized in July and August, the Voyage to Nantes could be postponed for a month.
  • The Nuit du VAN would take place this time at the end of the event, with a date set for September 26.

We knew it. The 2020 edition of Voyage à Nantes, traditionally organized over the two months of July and August, will not go as planned. This Friday morning, the organizers gave more details on how the tourist and cultural event could still take place. "For the moment, we continue to consider the possibility of an event this summer which would be held from August 8 to September 27 with the production of ephemeral works and the finalization of perennial works that we have already launched," announce- they.

The route should place more emphasis on outdoor facilities. The organizers are betting in particular on the Porte-Vue, this belvedere being set up in the vineyard, at Château-Thébaud. The precise program will be communicated on May 26, but there is already talk of a work in front of the Vatel school, on the island of Nantes. The director of Le Voyage à Nantes, Jean Blaise, also spoke about a “major” work on Place Graslin on Télénantes. Certain stages of the permanent route (indoor jungle, slippery landscape, etc.) will open “as soon as the situation allows,” perhaps as early as July.

The night of the NPV at the end of September

For the moment, the coronavirus epidemic has put a stop to cultural programming. At the Château, the LU exhibition is postponed. At the Machines, the Nantes maker campus event scheduled for early July has already been postponed until next year. The Big Elephant will only leave the workshop once the branch's Café has been authorized to reopen. We will have to wait a little longer to be able to climb on his back again or visit the gallery.

If everything goes as hoped, the Nuit du VAN would take place this time at the end of the 2020 edition, with a date set for September 26. The day before could take place the evening of the Tables of Nantes, "if the gradual erasure of the epidemic allows us".
