The municipality sent its demands to Malmö city on Thursday evening. The dissatisfaction is great when it comes to the working environment for employees in healthcare and care.

This concerns, among other things, deficiencies in protective equipment, work clothes and access to changing rooms.

According to Monica Linde, there is not enough protective equipment. Sometimes it is locked so the staff can't access it. The municipality requires mouth protection for the staff.

- We cannot keep two meters away when visiting the toilet or feeding. It's impossible, says Monica Smidje.

"We have been pushing the issue of work clothes since the 1990s," says Monica Smidje.

Long wait for clothes

In 2014, the City Council of Malmö decided that staff in care should be given work clothes. But the decision has not been implemented since then, partly because of the appeal of procurement. A crack question has been how the clothes should be washed.

Now the City of Malmö has decided to buy work clothes. On Tuesday, deliveries came to the staff. In the first stage, clothes come from Region Skåne. Later comes new work clothes that are purchased from a supplier.

According to Kommunal, some of the staff are supposed to wash the clothes themselves. This applies, among other things, to elderly homes and home care, according to Monika Smidje.

- We do not want working hours to spend on washing clothes, she says.

The City of Malmö holds a press conference on Friday morning. SVT News will ask questions about the requirements of the Municipal.
