At 14 o'clock today, Friday, the front door was closed in the buses running public transport for Skånetrafiken. It is the Municipal Security Officer in Nobina, Bergkvara, Transdev, Arriva and Vy who now puts a safety ombud stop under the Work Environment Act, Chapter 6, section 7.

- Now that's enough. We cannot wait any longer, but must do what is necessary to protect the bus drivers who are in a serious situation and who are exposed to great risks in their work with the Corona pandemic.

"We close the doors"

- Having to wait three weeks is far too long in the situation we are in. We put our foot down to protect bus drivers as much as we can only based on the conditions that exist and to help reduce the spread of infection in society at large, says Rosa Andersson, bus driver and head safety representative at Kommunal.

Close or stop

The message to the bus companies was: close the front doors or stop the buses.

- We close the doors and put up information signs for the travelers. In addition, we block the passage to the front of the bus, says Christer Ekelund, communications manager at Arriva.

Marianne Gustavsson is a bus driver in Helsingborg.

- It has taken far too long and many have been worried about getting to work, she says, only half an hour after her bus was blocked off.

The bus company Nobina, which runs the city traffic in Malmö, Lund and Landskrona as well as regional buses in Helsingborg, started work on closing the front doors this morning.

Skånetrafiken wants to avoid congestion

On Friday afternoon, the message from the Swedish Work Environment Authority also came that the front doors should be closed. Skånetrafiken responds to the criticism from Municipal:

- Our drivers play a very important role and we care about them. For Skånetrafiken it is about creating a balance to prevent the spread of contamination and congestion for everyone on the bus. That is why we have agreed to set up plexiglass and block seats, says Saman Tondnevis, business manager for buses at Skånetrafiken.
