The 24th is the first day of the current month of Ramadan in Indonesia, the effective date of the second phase of "large-scale community segregation" in the capital Jakarta, and the effective date of this year ’s Eid al-Fitr, the ban on returning home, and the unprecedented suspension of all domestic and foreign passenger flights first day.

On that day, there were 436 new cases of new pneumonia diagnosed in the country, and a total of 8211 cases were diagnosed, of which 1002 were cured and 689 died. Its death toll and death rate have always been the highest in Southeast Asian countries.

The epidemic is raging in Indonesia, the world ’s fourth most populous country. Under the epidemic, the livelihoods of millions of online motorcycle drivers across the country have become increasingly difficult.

"I haven't received a single business from 5 o'clock in the morning and I haven't earned a penny." At noon, Very and Tiar, motorbike drivers who chatted with their peers under a viaduct cave in the central district of Jakarta, turned on their mobile phones to complain to the author. At the same time, several drivers waiting for business under the bridge hole took out their mobile phones to display an order interface that was almost "0", telling about the difficulties of life in the epidemic.

The 40-year-old Very said he has two children, a 15-year-old and a 7-year-old, who need to be nurtured and pay a monthly rent of about 250 yuan. "Without business, you can't earn living expenses and you can only borrow it."

In Jakarta, where traffic is extremely heavy on weekdays, netizen motorcycle drivers wearing uniform green uniforms and wearing the same hard hats are not only the most convenient and fast way for citizens to travel and deliver goods, but also become a flowing green scenery in the city.

With the outbreak of the new coronary pneumonia, Jakarta began implementing the "large-scale community isolation" measure on the 10th of this month. All schools, companies, public entertainment and leisure places are closed, and online motorcycles can only be delivered and cannot carry passengers. Drivers who usually rely on passengers for a living get into trouble overnight.

"The epidemic is very serious, why don't you wear masks?" Faced with the author's doubts, most of the drivers who chatted under the bridge hole without talking about masks either said that they could not buy masks or that they could not afford masks. One driver said that the whole family had only one mask for his wife to wear, because she had to wear a mask when she came to help the housekeeping service.

"Will the government or company help you overcome the difficulties?" When the author asked this question, Very took out his mobile phone and said excitedly, "Some, some, the company gave me a subsidy of 100,000 dong (about 50 yuan) last month. ". Even with such a small amount of subsidies, not every driver can get it. Tiar, a 29-year-old boy from Sumatra, has not received any subsidies. Very said that as far as he knows, less than 20% of people receive subsidies.

Of course, not every online motorcycle driver is so bleak, 17-year-old Rizky is considered a lucky one. Wearing a mask to help people deliver meals, he admits that "a lot of single, can earn more than 300,000 rupiah (about 150 yuan) a day." Because of the "community isolation", restaurants cannot provide dine-in meals, and many citizens do not go out, making takeaways the norm in life, and the business of delivering meals and express delivery is busy. However, most of the online motorcycle drivers in Jakarta are not so busy.

According to Indonesian media reports, nearly 60% of the migrant workers in the country are "temporary migrant workers" like the Jakarta on-demand drivers. Although both the Indonesian Central Government and the Jakarta Provincial Government have issued corresponding relief measures, after all, there are too few monks and porridge, and it is difficult to fundamentally solve the problem.

The whole society, including Chinese and overseas Chinese, and Chinese-funded enterprises, has taken action, and volunteers to provide protective materials, grain, oil, rice, noodles and other living materials to people in need are taking place every day ...
