The Dubai Ambulance Services Corporation has developed an ambulance, as part of the "Check You Up" initiative, and transformed it into a mobile screening unit, to support paramedics and doctors in tackling the Corona virus (Covid-19).

The unit uses all members of society, giving priority to senior citizens, residents and people of determination in their places of residence, to spare them the hassle of going to hospitals to conduct an examination related to the Corona virus, in addition to relieving pressure on hospitals and testing centers.

The Foundation has endeavored with its internal efforts and energies to redesign the vehicle from outside and inside, in line with the nature of the needs of the ambulance crew to carry out the examination, and what achieves the convenience and satisfaction of the customer.

The amendments include the conversion of the ambulance booth to a mobile medical laboratory, which contains chairs that can be positioned to suit examination procedures. It was also equipped with hanging bags to store medical materials, which makes it easier for paramedics to control their transportation from one place to another.

The unit also includes smart technologies and advanced devices, such as a self-sterilizer to protect paramedics and dealers, in addition to a thermal camera to monitor the temperature, equipped with a health statistics system (data immunity) with an Emirati identity reader.

The organized utilization of the available space in the cab enables paramedics to take data and perform the swab easily.

Major General Talal Belhoul, Commissioner-General of the Dubai Security and Safety Path, said that this achievement is a result of the intensification of efforts and close cooperation between the departments of the state involved in managing the crisis resulting from the Corona pandemic, noting the exceptional efforts of the Dubai Ambulance Services Corporation, which was not satisfied with its main role in the first line of defense To ward off danger from society, it even invested its energies to create high-quality services, the first of its kind in the region, explaining that «the institution invested its energies to create high-quality services, through self-efforts within the institution without resorting to any external companies».

He stressed that the Dubai government, with all its apparatus, is working with a one-team spirit in order to find guarantees and alternatives that confirm the ability of society to overcome the transitional crisis that the whole world is facing, and that the sectors concerned with this large national mission work with guidance and follow-up of the leadership to develop and innovate the necessary solutions to eliminate this occasional challenge as soon as possible.

Regarding the launch of the new unit within the "Check You Up" initiative, he said: "This step comes in the context of intensifying efforts and close cooperation between the state departments concerned with managing the crisis resulting from the Corona pandemic."

In turn, the Foundation’s executive director, Khalifa bin Dray, said that the idea of the mobile laboratory came after many contacts in hospitals to conduct virus tests, “It was our duty and within the strategy of Dubai Ambulance for social responsibility and its strategic goal of the well-being and happiness of dealers, to find and create a solution to reach community members in Their residence ».

He explained that «the mobile examination unit works according to the health statistics system (data immunity) with the Emirati identity reader, which facilitates access to the target groups in the service».

He added that «the unit’s work is to reach these groups and provide medical services to them while they are in their homes, instead of going out to seek health care in case of suspected infection with the virus». Bin Dry confirmed that two mobile units would be equipped in the near future, for a total of three examination units. He added: "We will turn mobile laboratories, after eliminating the virus, into ambulances for intensive care."
