Figures provided by the French Army's Director of the Health Service Central revealed that there were 1,500 confirmed cases of "Covid-19" in the ranks of the armies, including 1,000 sailors on board the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, tests have shown that they are carrying the emerging Corona virus.

General Doctor Marilyn Gigax Genero said during a hearing before the National Assembly's Defense Committee, a statement issued yesterday that, "As of April 21, there were 1,500 confirmed injuries in armies, including about 15 in recovery rooms."

Among them were 1,081 sailors from the Airborne group to which the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle belonged. These people have tested positive for HIV, and 15 of them are still in the military hospital in Toulon, explaining that "three of them are in intensive care," with an increase of one sailor over a previous toll from the army.

In a separate statement yesterday, the chief of staff of the French armies, General Francois LeCointer, who testified at the National Assembly also on Wednesday, reported that some of the soldiers were wounded by "Covid-19" in the Barkhan anti-terrorist operation in the Sahel, where 5,100 French soldiers are deployed.

On April 2, the French General Staff announced that four French officers from Berkhan were found to have been infected with the new Corona virus.

The chief of staff told the committee that the "few cases" that had been identified among the forces deployed in the coast "had no impact on operations." "The exchanges were carried out, and all soldiers were now quarantined for two weeks before their deployment," he added. The Director of the Central Health Service during the hearing referred to the efforts made by this body to contribute to the national move towards the epidemic.
