The former All Black center Conrad Smith, appointed last July manager of high performance ("High Performance Manager") of Pau, was extended in office until 2022, we learned Wednesday from the president of the Bernard Pontneau Section.

Conrad Smith (38, 94 caps), double world champion, played in the Section from 2015 to 2018. At the end of his last player season, he had been appointed defense manager of Pau before his mission change last summer.

After this extension, the Bearn staff will remain unchanged next season since after co-manager Nicolas Godignon who extended last December until 2022, it is the assistant in charge of three-quarters Geoffrey Lanne-Petit who reached an agreement for a contract until 2023.

The Section also confirmed that it had released two other New Zealand internationals, opener Colin Slade (32, 21 caps) and back Ben Smith (33, 84 caps) at the end of the contract in June, who already left France to join their country.

Finally, President Pontneau announced the departure of the third line and captain of Fiji, Dominiko Waqaniburotu (34, 51 caps).
