“According to ground-based intelligence and satellite monitoring, there are no open fires ... The main efforts are concentrated in the most difficult place - Rudki-Buryakovka. Due to the heavy clutter of the forests, ground forces cannot get there, ”he said.

According to him, at the moment, rescuers are actively using the engineering equipment of the State Emergency Service and the Armed Forces. 125 km of roads in the indicated area were pierced per day. 

“In this way we get to the edge of the fire, fill it and only in this way we control the occurrence of fires. The radiation background in the exclusion zone and in Kiev are within the background values, ”added Demchuk.

On April 4, it was reported that a forest fire had begun in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. On the 14th, Ukrainian firefighters managed to eliminate the fire.

Ukrainian media later indicated that the wind had blown up new fires in the Chernobyl zone.
