Until now, companies had to pay Google Shopping to promote their products through advertising using the Google search engine.

At the end of April, Google will offer this service, free of charge, to American companies and by the end of the year, to all merchants around the world.

The companies which will place their products in Google Shopping, will thus be able to profit from a free exposure and to reach millions of Net surfers who come every day on Google, for their needs of purchases.

With this announcement Google will directly compete with the e-commerce giant Amazon , in the field of targeted advertising.

According to officials of the American giant, this project was already under study. But the global health crisis has accelerated its implementation. Store closings due to the pandemic and containment measures have exploded online commerce. Google’s goal: to offer retail businesses and SMEs a way to connect supply and demand.

Still, it will still be possible for companies who wish to use the paid offer from Google, which allows better exposure of products.
