Gargash: The UAE provided aid to 26 countries in the “Corona” crisis

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, said that the UAE provided humanitarian assistance to 26 countries, immediately after the invading Corona virus invaded the countries of the world, within the framework of humanitarian principles and practical and moral solidarity with friendly peoples and governments.

This came during Gargash’s participation in the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s executive committee at the level of foreign ministers yesterday, via video conference technology, which was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and with the participation of the foreign ministers of Bangladesh, Niger, Gambia and Turkey, and the presence of Amin General of the organization, Dr. Youssef Al-Othaimeen.

At the beginning of his speech, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs thanked the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its sensitivity and rapid humanitarian response to holding this session in light of the exceptional circumstances facing the OIC countries due to the new Corona virus (Covid-19), as well as to the Secretary-General and the General Secretariat of the Organization for their efforts in achieving goals The aspirations of the OIC Member States and the Islamic Development Bank for its initiative to establish a strategic preparedness and response center to provide immediate assistance to the OIC member states.

He said: “The policy of the United Arab Emirates stemming from the planting of our father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, demonstrated to the whole world that practical solidarity with friendly peoples and governments with a distinction between positions Humanity and the political position are a civilizational and ethical feature rooted in the leadership and people of the Emirates, which was reflected in the government’s role under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop national plans and prepare and respond to enhance prevention and mitigation effects This E pandemic and deal with all humanity ».

Gargash added that "the UAE is keen to provide basic services to different members of society without differentiating between a citizen and a resident, in addition to strengthening the health and medical infrastructure and community commitment through social divergence and home quarantine, and other precautionary measures."

He stated that within the framework of humanitarian principles and practical and moral solidarity with friendly peoples and governments, and immediately after the virus invaded the countries of the world, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, directed humanitarian aid to 26 countries, including member states In the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, it transported more than 260 tons of medical and health aid serving 260,000 medical workers, to enable them to perform their tasks efficiently, in addition to providing logistical support.

He added: “The UAE has dealt with a clear scientific methodology through which it adopted the establishment of the (Emirates Humanitarian City) in Abu Dhabi, which was allocated to treat (COFED-19) patients from the citizens of brotherly and friendly countries that evacuated the UAE from the Chinese province of Hubei, in addition to dedicating facilities Its advanced health sector, medical capabilities and availability to serve the countries of the region.

Turning to a number of measures that the UAE has taken to reduce the virus, he said in this regard: “In the context of its sensitivity to national responsibility, the UAE has established the largest laboratory outside the People's Republic of China that has been built and operated to provide an immediate solution that meets the escalating needs of (Covid- 19) In the country, and by taking advantage of China's experience in dealing with the epidemic, which contributed to enabling the UAE to continue active follow-up, and providing the highest rates of examinations, which amounted to nearly one million exams.

He added: “Recognizing the economic challenges caused by this pandemic, the UAE government has taken proactive measures to support the national economy, large companies, and medium and small projects operating in the country, to ensure economic and social stability, and to launch governmental and private initiatives and accelerators to provide a reassuring environment for its citizens, residents, and workers.”

And he addressed the many humanitarian initiatives implemented by the UAE since the beginning of this disease, and mentioned that the International City for Humanitarian Services in Dubai, which is the largest warehouse for humanitarian relief around the world, provides humanitarian services and provides logistical support and stores for relief materials, which provides its services to all partners from organizations, UN agencies and organizations International, which enabled the World Health Organization and its partners to respond by transferring more than 80% of its medical and health assistance to more than 53 countries around the world, and delivering the necessary supplies to combat the Corona virus during the first quarter of this year The State also pledged to provide in-kind assistance to the World Health Organization up to $ 20 million US.

He added, “The UAE has taken proactive measures to combat the Corona virus in Yemen by preparing quarantine buildings and a field hospital in Al Hudaydah Governorate, and has launched hygiene campaigns in the West Coast and awareness and educational campaigns in Hadhramaut with the aim of increasing awareness among citizens about this virus and ways to prevent it, and launching a sterilization campaign Comprehensive in public streets and service, educational and health facilities in Socotra, in addition to delivering aid to homes, in line with precautionary and preventive measures ».

He said: «As we recognize the anxiety and tension that is sweeping the people of the Islamic world as a result of the virus, which allows extremist and terrorist groups and movements to incite and try to spread their agenda against the governments that devote their efforts to protecting their members from the disease, then we would like to commend the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sister Saudi Arabia to combat this emerging virus, confirming our strong condemnation of the Houthi attack of ballistic missiles on Saudi soil at such a critical time. At the same time, we welcome the wise and responsible decision of the Arab coalition to cease fire for two weeks in Yemen.

At the end of his speech, Gargash explained that eliminating this pandemic requires strong will, sincere teamwork and awareness of the requirements of the stage.
