The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi announced the preliminary results of the questionnaire "Life in the Shadow of the New Corona Virus (Covid-19)", in which more than 32 thousand people, citizens and residents, participated.

The results showed that 99% of the participants changed their lifestyle due to the epidemic, while 93% confirmed their confidence in the ability of the competent authorities to deal with the current situation.

The questionnaire aims to measure and analyze the consequences of the spread of the virus in the emirate, and to identify the lifestyles of society during this period, and raise them to decision makers, to ensure that we look to the future and sustain the provision of a better quality of life.

90% of the participants confirmed their knowledge of the preventive measures in relation to the Corona virus, and nearly 90% reported that officials dealt with the crisis with clear seriousness, and 88% felt that the competent health institutions are equipped and able to deal with the epidemic, and 90% indicated that the competent authorities I rushed to provide medical and other teams to cope with the crisis, and 90% of the respondents mentioned that the competent authorities took proactive measures towards "Corona", while 89% confirmed that they only get news related to the crisis from official sources.

The results showed in the family bonding axis, that 99% of the participants changed their lifestyle due to the epidemic, where they indicated that the most important change is to move away from public places.

85% of the participants considered that the crisis contributed to strengthening their family relations, and that they spend more time with their children, and 96% said that they encourage family members and all their acquaintances to take the necessary measures to protect from the virus.

96.7% of the participants affirmed that they believe in the necessity of cooperating with the government and members of society to successfully confront this crisis, and 97% of them stated that facing the crisis is everyone's responsibility, while 70% affirmed their desire to volunteer in the field of distributing medical needs and helping the elderly.

The head of the Community Development Department, Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, said that the questionnaire “Life in the Shadow of the New Corona Virus” contributes to studying the effects of the Corona epidemic on the family and society, through a set of research and scientific tools that enable us to search for appropriate solutions with partners from the competent authorities It also helps us provide decision makers with accurate results to benefit from, and work towards improvement points. ”

He continued, "The members of society are an essential part in getting rid of this epidemic, and limiting its spread and reproduction."

Al-Khaili said: "The Department will continue to conduct this questionnaire, with the aim of monitoring the impact of the spread of the Corona virus on the mosque in the family and society."

Social initiatives

The Abu Dhabi social sector has launched initiatives specifically designed to overcome the challenges arising from the fight against the emerging corona virus, including initiatives that support senior citizens, aimed at ensuring their commitment to preventive measures, and providing them with appropriate care and protection.

The most important of them is the initiative “Merkem Lin Betkom” launched by the Family Development Foundation in cooperation with a number of partners, in addition to sports initiatives to encourage members of society to exercise from home, in order to preserve physical health, through various competitions and challenges organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

Likewise, the "Together We Are Okay" initiative launched by the Community Contributions Authority, with the aim of opening the door for financial, in-kind and voluntary contributions from individuals and companies, to direct them to social, food and educational aid and supplies.
