The Secretary of State to the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, estimated at the microphone of Europe 1 that it was still too early to know if the summer tourist season was going to be strongly impacted, or not, by the coronavirus.

INTERVIEW

After the Easter holidays, will the coronavirus bring summer vacations to the water? Prime Minister Édouard Philippe already prepared the French for it during his press conference by indicating that he did not consider it "reasonable to imagine traveling far abroad very quickly". For his part, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne believes at the microphone of the "Grand journal du soir" of Europe 1 that "it" is very difficult to give prospects "to the French, but also to professionals in the sector.

"What controls everything is the fight against the epidemic"

"What controls everything is the fight against the epidemic, this virus. It is when we have estimated that it has been sufficiently contained, that its circulation has been rather slowed down, and that the health guarantees are sufficient that we can reopen a certain number of activities, "said the Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Hoping to be able to set a course in the "next few weeks", Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne did not sit idly by. "We are working hard" on the reopening.

"As of last week, I brought together the professionals of the sector to ask them to provide their draft health protocol, they are being examined. We need to show that we are at the rendezvous of health" . Because the stated objective of the Secretary of State is clear: to encourage the French to go on vacation to France. He also imagines with his teams "a national campaign to encourage the French to rediscover our heritage and our land". This summer "everyone will need and want France," he says.

According to Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, the revival of this sector very hard hit by the crisis will therefore pass through the French. From there to that the State encourages the phenomenon? "It will be necessary to encourage the departure of a maximum of people when the sanitary conditions are met," he slips. And even if no official measure is yet on the agenda, the Secretary of State already has a maxim: "Tourism for all".
