“President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate the following people to key positions in his administration: Julie Fisher from Tennessee to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Belarus,” the statement said.
Fisher was also formerly charge d'affaires at the US Embassy in Russia.
In February, Foreign Policy magazine, citing sources, wrote that the Trump administration sees Julie Fisher as the main contender for the post of ambassador in Minsk.
