So far, 14,777 infections have been confirmed. 1,133 persons have been intensive care for covid-19.

Regarding the backlog in the death toll, Tegnell says it is not as big anymore, and that Sweden now has just under 60 deaths per day.

Most cases are still reported in the Stockholm region. Västra Götaland and Skåne are also on a flat curve, but at a lower level than the capital.

"A lot of people in the nightlife"

Tegnell is pressing hard to continue to follow the prevailing guidelines on hand hygiene and social distance.

- It is important to remember that the curves depend on everyone following the advice, he says.

He also mentions that the Public Health Authority receives "disturbing reports" of increased crowding in the nightlife.

- We are trying to get more objective data. Telia is now looking at how mobiles are moving in the larger cities. But we get quite a lot of emails from different people who think there has been a lot of people in the nightlife, especially in Stockholm, he says.

Uneven load

The National Board of Health and Welfare states that the pressure on health care is still high, even though the curves look stable.

- Health care will remain severely burdened for several weeks to come, says Thomas Lindén, head of knowledge management for health care.

According to Lindén, the load is not evenly distributed over the country, so the capacity that exists may not be where the need is greatest.
