Carrefour to halve the dividend proposed for the 2019 financial year and its CEO Alexandre Bompard gives up a quarter of his fixed compensation for two months, in the "exceptional context" of the Covid-19 pandemic, the group announced Monday.

"The dividend will be 0.23 euros per share, against 0.46 euros per share originally planned," said the group in a statement.

Mr. Bompard "informed the Board of Directors" which met on Monday "of his decision to give up 25% of his fixed compensation for a period of two months corresponding to the acute phase of the crisis", according to the same source.

He also "informed the board of directors that he had decided to freeze the fixed remuneration of the members of the Executive Committee of the group for the whole of 2020, and that he had asked them to give up 10% of their remuneration fixed for a period of two months, "added the press release.

Mr. Bompard and the members of the Carrefour board of directors have also "decided to reduce by 25% the amount of their attendance fees for the current year" and "the corresponding sums will be allocated to the funding of solidarity actions for group employees, in France and abroad ", details the document.

The board of directors, which will bring together the general meeting broadcast on the internet on May 29, will also reduce its size by not proposing the replacement of two directors.
