Yesterday, the Palestinian government announced the registration of the third death in the Palestinian territories with the emerging corona virus.

The government spokesman, Ibrahim Melhem, said during the daily press briefing in the city of Ramallah that an elderly woman of 78 years old, from the town of Al-Issawiya, east of Jerusalem, had died of being infected with the Corona virus.

Melhem stated that the deceased elderly was suffering from other chronic diseases before she was infected with the virus.

For its part, the Palestinian Minister of Health, Mai Alkila, announced during the conference the registration of six new infections with the Corona virus in the West Bank.

Alkila said that the total number of HIV infections in the Palestinian territories was 318, distributed by 313 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and 105 in Jerusalem.

In connection, the arrest of Israel is fueling officials appointed by the Palestinian Authority in occupied East Jerusalem, accusing them of "illegal" activities related to combating the "Covid-19" epidemic, and the closure of a clinic to detect the emerging corona virus, the struggle over sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem. The Israeli authorities closed, on Wednesday, a new clinic in the Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem, which was working on taking samples from the residents for Corona tests.

In early April, Israel arrested the Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, Fadi Al-Hadmi, the fourth time he was arrested, and arrested the Palestinian city's governor, Adnan Ghaith, for the sixth time.

On the other hand, the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, discussed with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, and to combat the new Corona epidemic, the officials said.

Erekat said, in a press statement yesterday, reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that he discussed with Bogdanov, during a telephone conversation, the situation in the Palestinian territories and the prospect of a Palestinian-Israeli settlement based on international laws.

The statement stated that the talks focused "in particular on combating the epidemic infection, and the measures taken by the Russian and Palestinian authorities to stop its spread and neutralize its negative effects."
