(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) French deaths rose to 19,323 cases and opened a second temporary mortuary in the Greater Paris area

China News Agency, Paris, April 18 (Reporter Li Yang) On the 18th local time, the cumulative deaths of French new coronary pneumonia rose to 19,323. To ease the funeral pressure, a second temporary mortuary was opened in the Greater Paris area, which was put into use on the 18th.

According to the epidemic statistics released by the French Ministry of Health that night, France had 642 new deaths on that day, and the cumulative deaths had risen to 19,323, including 11,842 deaths in hospitals and 7,481 deaths in nursing homes.

At present, there are 30639 new coronary pneumonia patients still in hospital in France, including 5833 serious patients. The number of hospitalizations and the number of critically ill patients continue to decline slowly. The outbreak in the Mulhouse region of the greater eastern region has eased, and the field hospital built by the French military will remove some beds next week.

In the Greater Paris area, where the French New Coronary Pneumonia epidemic is most severe, the death toll rose to 4,768, and 151 died on a single day on the 18th. At present, there are 2286 serious patients in the Greater Paris area, which is 43 fewer than the previous day.

Although the number of single-day deaths in the Greater Paris area has a downward trend, the total number is still high. The Paris police announced that it will requisition a cold storage building as the second temporary mortuary in conjunction with the local government. The refrigerated building is located in the industrial area on the outskirts of Essonne in the Greater Paris region and can accommodate 450 coffins.

The Paris police requisitioned a large market temporarily as a mortuary earlier this month and can park 1,000 coffins. By the 17th, about 800 coffins had been parked at the site. With the opening of the second temporary mortuary on the 18th, the French funeral industry need not worry about the pressure of the coffin parking.

The second temporary mortuary does not yet have the conditions to receive the family of the deceased. The first temporary mortuary in a large market has opened two places for the family of the deceased to bid farewell to the coffin before the body of the deceased is cremated or buried. Each venue can accommodate up to 20 people at a time.

Air France said on the 18th that it hopes to resume 30% of flights in July, but there are many uncertainties, and it will depend on the opening of the border. 90% of the Air France KLM fleet is currently grounded. (Finish)
