He says that these characteristics of the emerging corona virus cannot happen naturally, and that the error may have occurred in a laboratory in Wuhan, China, according to his opinion.

But the epidemiologist Etienne Simon Laurier of the Pasteur Institute in Paris told Agence France-Presse that Montanier's words "make no sense, as we find these small elements in other viruses of the same family, in other corona viruses in nature."

Laurier, who is in charge of the evolutionary genetic structure at the institute, adds that parts of the genome actually resemble many chains in the genetic characteristics of bacteria, viruses, and plants.

For some time now, the hypothesis that the emerging corona virus was caused by genetic manipulations has been applied, and it was excluded thanks to the analysis of the virus genome provided by the Chinese. Researchers in different regions of the world were able to diagnose and analyze it themselves from samples taken from patients.

Montagnier, who previously worked at the Pasteur Institute, won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2008 for his diagnosis of the virus responsible for AIDS with his colleague, Professor Francoise Barre Senussi.

US President Donald Trump had announced that his country was investigating the extent that the Corona virus had emerged from a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan, which was the outbreak of the epidemic in the world, but Beijing denied that it produced the virus in one of its laboratories, citing the World Health Organization.
