Hair salons will reopen on May 11. In the meantime, hairdresser Franck Provost, guest of Europe 1 Friday, explained how things were going to be gradually put in place to best preserve the safety of hairdressers and their customers. Customers who, according to him, should put their scissors and avoid any capillary catastrophe while waiting for the reopening of salons.

"The hairdresser and the client should wear a mask"

"The social partners and suppliers are already working hard to present a hygiene kit aimed at preserving employees and customers. In this kit?" Masks, gloves, and maybe even disposable linen ", lists the hairdresser who received confirmation from Bruno Le Maire for the reopening of his eponymous salons, like the thousands of other hairdressers in France.

After confinement, care must be taken to implement barrier measures and social distancing in order to avoid any further contamination. Requirements that are difficult to apply in a profession requiring such proximity to the client. "We provide one meter in each space and a tray out of two in the shampoo space", explains Franck Provost after having specified that a distance between each employee and customer must be respected.

"The hairdresser and the client should wear a mask," warns Franck Provost. A requirement that comes up against a major problem. "We are able to supply masks to all of our hairdressers, but it will be impossible for us to supply masks to all consumers."

Go online for May 11

In addition to the question of security, there is that of the influx of customers when the salons are reopened. To avoid endless queues, Franck Provost has already found the solution. "We are planning meetings online," he said, adding that customers wishing to finish their containment cut will be able to book an appointment next week for May 11.

In addition, the hairdresser said that discussions would be organized with the social partners to be able to widen the working hours so that several teams of hairdressers take turns, with a possible opening of salons on Sundays.

"In the meantime, it is better not to cut your hair yourself," repeats Franck Provost. If the latter admits that "it is only hair" and that we can always catch up, he insists: "it can be a disaster, so I advise to wait until you come to the hairdresser".
