The Italian Federation insisted Friday for a resumption of the matches "end of May-beginning of June", insisting on the economic stakes and estimating that those which plead for a cancellation of the season "do not like football, nor Italians".

The president of the Federation, Gabriele Gravina, evokes to prepare a period of three weeks after the deconfinement, scheduled in Italy on May 4. "So in late May-early June, we can start," he said on Italian radio on Friday.

"There will be a period of control to guarantee the negativity of all those who take part in the events. If they are all negative, there is no problem of distancing or contagion," said Gabriele Gravina.

"I hope everyone can play in their own stadium, if this is not possible we will find other solutions," he added.

"It is a complex moment for our country, for the economy and for football which is one of the most important industries", he added, expressing his confidence in "finding the right path".

"Those who talk today about the cancellation of the season love neither football nor the Italians because they take away hope for the future and recovery," accused Gravina.

According to the Italian press, Brescia and Torino are the last two clubs to be openly against the resumption of the championship. The city of Brescia is one of the hardest hit by the pandemic which has killed nearly 23,000 people in Italy.
