These are figures that the authorities proudly present at a press conference: 800 police roadblocks, more than 9,000 arrests in a single day, and 612 judgments rendered. A zeal that was almost a problem for Malaysia. But when the specter of prison overcrowding arose, the authorities found a solution.

Provision of 13 correctional homes

If the possibility of favoring fines over prison terms was first raised, it was finally the provision of 13 reformatories for minors that was announced, to imprison all those who did not respect the rules of confinement. The Minister of Defense, who warns that contravening confinement is not a small crime, assured that these establishments for minors certainly did not have the architecture of a prison but that the sentence would be just as harsh.

If law enforcement and justice remain very productive in recent weeks, the press also relay judgments and arrests daily, often naming all these citizens do not respect confinement.

Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic,  Malaysia  has recorded more than 5,000 cases of contamination and the death of 80 people.
