The Gulf Cooperation Council countries agreed today, Thursday, to the proposal of the State of Kuwait to establish a unified integrated Gulf food security network, in order to achieve relative food security for the countries of the system.

The decision was taken after a remote meeting of the ministers of trade and industry in the Gulf countries, in order to address the repercussions and effects of the Corona epidemic.

The Ministers decided to instruct the General Secretariat to prepare a working paper on food security among the GCC states, and to establish a working group consisting of liaison officers from the ministries of trade in the GCC countries, who would meet periodically to monitor developments related to the flow of goods between the GCC countries, and work to solve problems that may hinder the movement of goods in trade Interfaces.

The Kuwaiti News Agency stated that the relevant ministers also discussed the economic effects of the virus on the Gulf countries and their food security, adding that there are periodic coordination meetings between the ministers of trade to ensure the flow of goods between the countries of the Cooperation Council and remove any obstacles they face.
