Faced with the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic, Formula E and the FIA announced Thursday that they have jointly decided to extend the suspension of the season at least until the end of June.

This extension means that the Berlin E-Prix, originally scheduled for June 21, cannot take place.

"Our goal is to resume racing as soon as possible, but our priority in any decision-making must be the health and safety of our staff and the entire community of Formula E teams, manufacturers, partners, drivers and fans, as well as citizens and residents of the cities in which we run, "said the joint statement.

It is still possible to organize events in July or to reschedule races "if the coronavirus situation stabilizes", he specifies.

"We are evaluating all the options available to end the season with as many races as possible," said the FIA and Formula E, whose sixth season was interrupted in late February.

Five ePrix have not been held yet (Sanya, Paris, Rome, Seoul, Jakarta).

"This emergency plan continues to explore the organization of closed-door races, the use of permanent track facilities, the introduction of double races and the extension of the season beyond its original end date ", summarizes the text.
