Owners of real estate and residential towers in Ajman have taken the initiative to prevent delivery workers from entering their buildings, and to simply deliver them to customers outside the building, or in the reception hall.

They called on residents not to receive guests during the current period, for their safety, noting that their decisions are part of the precautionary measures taken by the state to limit the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19).

The circular stated that, “Please adhere to preventive measures, in order to preserve the health and safety of your families and residents of the building. Accordingly, delivery workers are prohibited from entering the building, to preserve the health of your families and the rest of the population. ”

Residents told «Emirates Today» that they took to the ground floor to take their orders themselves from the grocery worker located under their building, after informing them of a decision to prevent him from delivering their requests to the apartments.

They expressed their satisfaction with the decision, noting that the new procedures make them feel more at ease.

They said that their building departments put sterilizers on the entrances to the buildings, and prevented children from playing in the corridors, for their safety, in addition to sterilizing the building's passages, entrances, exits and elevators, on a daily basis, to reduce the risk of the spread of the Corona virus.

Building owners confirmed that delivery workers interact with many individuals daily, due to the nature of their work, which exposes them to the risk of transmission, pointing out that entry to residential buildings is limited to residents only.

And specialists in infectious and immune diseases had warned against the danger of transmission of the "Corona" virus through delivery workers, adding that hands should be washed immediately after contacting the bags of orders, and before eating.

A number of grocery owners in Ajman assured «Emirates Today» that they respect the decisions of the owners of buildings, although they negatively affect their sales, noting that they are keen to take strict health and preventive measures in order to protect their workers and residents.

They made it clear that they required workers to wear health masks and gloves and change them every six hours, sterilize their hands before leaving the supermarket or grocery store, to deliver orders, and to sterilize their hands again after handing over the request, as well as to sterilize the shop daily.
