Following the government's policy to expand the “Emergency Situation” based on the Special Measures Law against New Coronaviruses nationwide, an “Advisory Committee” will be opened shortly to ask experts for their opinions. Expansion of the “Emergency Declaration” nationwide is expected to be decided at the countermeasures headquarters which will be held tonight.

Regarding the “Emergency Situation Declaration” based on the Act on Special Measures Against New Coronavirus Measures, the government has decided to expand the target area of ​​the declaration nationwide because the infection is spreading even in areas other than seven prefectures such as Tokyo.

In response to this, the "Advisory Committee" will be held on May 16 to hear opinions from infectious disease specialists, etc., with Minister of Economic Rehabilitation Nishimura and Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato attending.

Ministers Nishimura and others are expected to expand the target area of ​​the declaration to the whole country and explain the policy that the period will be until the 6th of next month, as in the case of 7 prefectures, and ask for opinions. Opinions will be exchanged regarding whether the period is suitable.

After receiving a report from the Advisory Committee, Prime Minister Abe is expected to make a decision to expand the target area nationwide at the government's task force, which will also be held on the night of the 16th, after a preliminary report to the Diet.
