In "Sans Rendez-vous", the sexologist and psychoanalyst Catherine Blanc answers Flora, a young woman who has more and more erotic dreams with a colleague who does not attract her. For the specialist, this must undoubtedly be seen as a manifestation of the frustration of the power which she has at her workplace, but which she cannot exercise because of confinement.

Dreams can say a lot about our psyche, but the difficulty is to interpret them. It is however the exercise to which the sexologist and psychoanalyst Catherine White engages, in "Sans Rendez-vous" this Wednesday, responding to Flora. A young woman having erotic dreams since the beginning of confinement, and who wonders their meaning. Especially since they often take place with a colleague who does not attract him.

Flora's question, 29 years old

Since the start of confinement, I notice that I have erotic dreams. In addition, I often make love with a colleague who does not attract me. What does that mean ?

Catherine Blanc's response

What is interesting is that erotic dreams tell of our life force, our natural impulse, and certainly that in times of confinement is added the idea of going out of ourselves. And eroticism takes part in it, it is a freedom granted in a protected framework, that of the dream.

If she dreams of a colleague who does not attract her, it nevertheless accounts for something else: it is always difficult to analyze a dream without speaking with the dreamer, but in general we can say that it is a desire to embrace the world and to get in touch with each other with all its strength. And sexuality is part of everyone's strength. But that does not at all mean that she wants this man, since we are in a dreaming environment, all possibilities are allowed without risk of taking action.

But Flora's dreams always happen with the same man, does this repetition mean nothing?

This gives more account not of man, but of his function. What is interesting is whether it is his superior or his subordinate. These erotic dreams tell of a relationship of power, the expression of her position of domination over the other, or of submission, which she can freely express. And it goes more by post than by person. Our dreams do not reflect reality, they often bother us because we think they are a reflection of repressed desires. This is to some extent true, but it does not necessarily concern the object staged in our reverie.

But what is the meaning of Flora's erotic dream?

It could be the expression of her freedom, of her power as a woman in all its extent, in a place of power, work, with people on whom she has it. These dreams could therefore reflect a frustration of this power during a period of confinement.

Can we take pleasure, and reach orgasm, with an erotic dream?

Of course, and even without having had a single rubbing movement of the sexual organ. It is also very common in women and young men. Eroticism is above all mental, which does not prevent a real and powerful enjoyment.
