During the confinement period, the majority of the apartments were occupied. This Wednesday, early in the afternoon, a major fire started in an apartment building in Epinay-sur-Seine, in Seine-Saint-Denis, we learned from the brigade of Paris firefighters. A two-year-old child in absolute emergency was evacuated by helicopter. Nine other people, including other children, are in serious condition, mostly suffering from smoke poisoning or minor burns.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the fire started in an apartment on the 11th floor in this building which has fifteen. The most seriously injured young victim was in this accommodation with three other people.
The fire quickly spread throughout the floor and smoke spread to the upper floors. If it is now extinguished, the firefighters carry out various operations to ensure that no re-ignition is possible, in particular between the insulation and the facing plates. The origin of the incident is still unknown.
