• Courts. The young woman who killed her baby in Alcalá became pregnant after being raped when she left the bar where she worked

The Provincial Court of Madrid has sentenced the 19-year-old girl to eight years in prison who killed her newborn baby on February 20, 2018 in Alcalá de Henares. The court applies the incomplete exemption for suffering a psychic alteration and reduces the penalty of the crime of murder that ranges from 15 to 25 years of age. The young woman will not be admitted to a prison psychiatric hospital, as requested by the Prosecutor, although she will receive medical treatment to overcome the severe depression that she suffers as a result of the events and continues to suffer, accompanied by psychotic symptoms and dissociative disorder.

During the trial, the young woman assured that she became pregnant after being raped by an individual when she left the bar where she worked when she was 18 one night.

At the oral hearing, the Public Ministry requested that the young woman be interned for eight years in a penitentiary psychiatric center, when she found an incomplete excuse for the mental alienation she suffered. At the beginning, the Madrid Prosecutor's Office requested twenty years in prison, but after taking the test, accepted the thesis of the young woman's lawyer, the lawyer Jaime Sanz de Bremond.

During the expert opinion of the trial, various psychiatrists verified that the girl heard voices indicating that she was self-injured and saw "a black shadow".

At the trial, the defendant broke down and tearfully regretted killing her little girl in the residence where she lived with her partner and family. "I only know that I lost her. I'm so sorry, sorry, sorry," he limited himself to pointing out throughout the trial.

During the trial, it was proven that Sonia, after giving birth to a healthy baby, that same day took a sharp object and, with the intention of ending the life of the newborn, stabbed her up to nine times in different parts of the body .
