A man was sentenced by the correctional court of Béziers (Hérault) to 12 months in prison, including eight with probationary suspension for two years, with continued detention. He was prosecuted for violence against his ex-girlfriend and her daughter on April 6 in Vendres, during the period of confinement.

According to the public prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland, the man, 36 years old, was "highly alcoholic during his arrest by the gendarmes".

Already known to justice

He would have admitted in police custody that he had struck the two victims, continues the magistrate.

He was already known to the justice system: his criminal record included five convictions, the last two of which, in 2014 and 2015, also for acts of violence.
