The government said today (10th) that it is important to "identify and take responsibility for those who have used chemical weapons" in relation to the report of the IIT, the Chemical Weapons Agency, OPCW Syria Chemical Weapons Research and Confirmation Team.

"The use of chemical weapons is a threat to international peace and security, and it cannot be tolerated at any time and place," said the government today, in a comment from a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government added, "We support OPCW's thorough investigation efforts and will continue to work closely with the international community to completely eliminate chemical weapons."

Earlier, the OPCW, a chemical weapons monitoring agency, released its first report that Syria's Bashar al-Assad regime attacked chemical weapons using sarin and chlorine gas in its home country in 2017.
